Games have kept us entertained for many years and they're even more important to us now during lockdown. They're one of the few things that make our lives bearable during this pandemic 🎮

As we enter the second half of 2021, what upcoming games should you consider playing? Here are our most anticipated upcoming games of 2021:

12 Minutes

In 12 Minutes, you play a husband who is stuck in a 12-minute time loop. In the course of 12 minutes, you find out that your wife is pregnant and a police officer breaks into your apartment and accuses your wife of murder. While trying to arrest your wife, the police officer knocks you out and kills your wife. The game then loops back to the moment before everything unfolds. Your job as the player is to break the time loop once and for all and to resolve the situation in the best way possible. ⏳

The game also stars the voice acting talent of James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley, and Willem Dafoe.

In Deathloop, you play as Colt, an assassin trapped in a time loop at the island of Blackreef, a former army base. The residents of Blackreef have gathered for a night of partying and at the end of each night, the island restarts back to the beginning of the party. Colt is the only one on the island who retains memories from each time loop. As Colt, you're tasked to take out eight targets across the island before midnight. If he leaves even one target alive, the time loop will reset and he has to do it all over again. 🔫

Kena: Bridge of Spirits

Ever wondered what it would be like to play a game that looks like one of Pixar's movies? If you did, then Kena: Bridge of Spirits is the game for you! It's a third-person action-adventure game that has you control Kena, a young spirit guide with magical abilities who is trying to help the deceased move on from the physical world to the spirit world. Kena uses a staff to attack enemies and she has small spirit companions called Rot who could help her solve puzzles and battle her foes. 🌳

Sable is an open-world exploration game in which the player controls Sable, a young girl who is searching for a rite-of-passage mask so that she can return to her clan. Travel across a sprawling desert and explore the dunes on your hoverbike as you unearth the long-forgotten mysteries of the land. 🏜

Art lovers will fall in love with the game's art style, which is reminiscent of Moebius' work, while music lovers will be delighted to know that the music is scored by Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast.

Metroid Dread

After 19 long years, bounty hunter Samus Aran is finally back on a brand new 2D adventure! Continuing after the events of Metroid Fusion, join Samus as she explores the planet ZDR to investigate a mysterious transmission sent to the Galactic Federation. Overrun by alien lifeforms and relentless E.M.M.I. robots, Samus has to utilise all of her abilities in order to traverse the mysterious planet. 🪐
